Introduction Porphyrins and their derivatives are widely found in biological systems. Many of them such as chlorophylls, hemoglobins, and cytochromes are indispensable participants of different biocatalytic reactions occurring inside living organisms and the role they play in life processes defines growing significant interest in such kind of compounds. Besides, a lot of porphyrin-type compounds are used in medicine and techniques [1,2]. TPPS4 is widely studied as potent sensitizer for photodynamic therapy [3]. In acidic solution molecules of TPPS4 form the so called J-aggregates, which are endowed with interesting photophysical properties. They could be used in the construction of sun battery models or even for conveyance of information. The aim of present study was to investigate the energy relaxation dynamics of excited J-aggregates of TPPS4 by means of picosecond absorption spectroscopy. |
