The video sequences

Viewing videos

To view the MPEG-1 (ext. .mpg) videos included in this paper you need to have a so-called viewer or player with the MPEG-1 codec installed. You also need hardware with audio playback. If you don't have the appropiate hardware you may just view the files and read the companion text for oral presentation.

How to configure your system

Your system have to be configured differently depending of which operating system you use, the machine you have and the internet browser you use. Some operating systems and their browsers supports the MPEG-1 format as default and all you have to do is to double-click the video sequence icon to watch the clip. Though for most platforms you have to install the MPEG-1 codec (or the whole viewer) as an addendum. Fortunately these codecs (different codec for each platform) are obtainable from several sites on the internet and with good documentation of how to download whether you use Unix, Solaris, Linux, OS/2, W-95, DOS/Windows, MacOS or any other O/S. Commercial viewers are also available.

Here comes a small collection of sites, but you may just search the internet e.g. for "MPEG Player", "MPEG Viewer" or just "MPEG" to find other sites. Note that this is just a collection of occational sites with usable software and NOT a collection of preferable viewers.

After installing.

When double-clicking the video sequence icon you may be asked whether you want to download or open the file. These files are rather large and may take several minutes to download. If you have a fast line you may want to view the file directly (even when downloading) without using disk space, otherwise choose save and view the file manually afterwards.
